Raclette NYC

Few weeks ago I was able to snag a reservation at Raclette NYC to try their “oh so cheesy goodness” cuisine. Raclette is a dish wherein a big piece of cheese is being melted and scrapes off the melted part onto the plate. Basically  what they did in the restaurant was someone is assigned to go around each table to scrape off the melted cheese right in front of you. I liked the part that the “cheese” person waited for us to get our camera ready to capture the main event. Also, I loved the fact that she said she will get back to us after few minutes to scrape some more cheese. I mean, who doesn’t want a second or third or fourth round, right? It’s cheese, baby!

What I ordered was Suisse. It comes with roasted potatoes, arugula salad, cornichons, pickled white pearl onions with a choice of Viande Sechee or Prosciutto di Parma, which was my choice, or Jambon de Paris and a slice of baguette. The first bite was unexplainably scrumptious. Potatoes and cheese are your best bet. The gooeyness of the cheese and the flavor of the roasted potatoes  will bring a blissful food coma in your mouth. However, the prosciutto was way too salty for my palate. By the time I was done with my starch, I couldn’t eat the rest of my food anymore because I feel like I might going to damage my kidneys and that’s the least thing I want to happen.

The service was mediocre, nothing special. They even asked us several times if we have a reservation which is quite odd because I made it a week before. The place is quite cramped but they have enough space for each table so there’s no reason for you to feel claustrophobic. I also adore their romantic ambiance that deserves a perfect spot on your instagram account.

All in all the whole experience was good. I am willing to go back once more and try their other raclettes and see if it’s way better than what I had.
