Product Review: The Ordinary

My skin had gone bazoonkers for six months for some reason. I had gazillions of pimples on my forehead and apparently, I could not find any solution to cure it. That was until I found the right products. I think I will write a separate post on how I conquered this journey. As of now lets focus on the “abnormal beauty company.”

Because of this horrific thing that happened on my forehead, it lead me to try different products. That’s when The Ordinary came into my life. I am glad it did. I’ve been using their products for the past 3 weeks and I have been raving and recommending it to my friends.

I have 5 products of them and I will go over them one by one.

  1. Advanced Retinoid 2%

What is it: It contains 2% concentration of Granactive Retinoid. This claims to reduce the signs of aging better than the retinol alone. It has an improved generation of retinoid that achieves  significant reduction of wrinkles and the like.

Price: $9.80 USD

My Verdict: The consistency of this product is sort of watery. My skin mostly absorbs it after a minute. I usually pat this on my skin rather than rubbing it. Doing so will maximize the amount of product that I put on my face. As of late, I still have not seen any visible result in diminishing my teeny, tiny lines. But the most apparent effect that I’ve observed was it brightened up my face, made it more glowing. Furthermore, part of the retinoid regimen is causing the skin to get extra dry. As for me, I did not notice any drying on my skin. If you have dry skin, you might want to consider applying a very hydrating moisturizer.

2. Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG

What is it: This claims to lessen the puffiness under eyes as well as dark circles which tend to be cause by lack of sleep. As we all know we are all guilty of doing.

Price: $6.70 USD

My Verdict: To be honest, I don’t have dark under eyes but the puffiness is a different story. I mean, how is it possible to have bigger under eye than my actual eyes? Don’t even ask how are my eyes when I laugh.

The reason that I purchased this product was because I finished my eye cream ages ago and I wanted to try something new. I know it would not replace the function of eye creams but I’d rather put something than nothing. After 3 weeks of using it intermittently I am not sure if I’ve seen any result from this, maybe I should try to give it a little more time.

3. Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

What is it: It targets all the blemishes at the same time reduces any sebum activity.

Price: $5.90 USD

My Verdict: This, I think is one of their best products. It washed out all my white heads in 2 weeks! It made my skin look and feel smoother. It’s also very good in oil control. I have a very oily skin but it turned my skin to normal. Moreover, it works so well with my persa gel from clean and clear in clearing out my pimples. I highly recommend this one!

4. Salicylic Acid 2% solution

What is it: It also helps with blemishes and therefore lessen the appearance of pores.

Price: $5.30

My Verdict: It works well with my Niacinamide to help clearing up my face. I haven’t had severe break outs for the past weeks. I’d still get one but not all at the same time. Hopefully it will tame my pimples after continuous use. Definitely a highly recommended product!

5. AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling solution

What is it: It’s a 10-minute exfoliating facial that you can use twice a week to clear up any pore congestion. It also provides radiant skin, improves texture and fights the number one sign of skin aging – fine lines.

Price: $7.20

My Verdict: I think I have only used this twice because of the tingling sensation that I feel when I put it on. The first time I used it I got so scared because of too much tingling to the point that I regret it after putting it. But the result was amazing! If you need a little perk up on your skin, you can definitely lather this on. The only thing that stopping me from using this regularly is the prickle sensation but the result is undeniable. I ‘ve never had a smooth skin like this before and the glow was an added bonus. This definitely a game changer!
